How is her QoL?

Hello Darlings, I unfortunately have not aquired Test Center and I haven't played Ms. Frost in awhile, so I was hoping to see how all of you believe Emma has turned out on a scale from 1 to 10 and if you haven't played her for some time will this QoL make you revisit the White Queen herself?

did you notice that the updated uniques are already in the game?

I was playing with Emma and realized that the uniques were updated. Unfortunately, my slot 5 that had +5 in signature has now been reduced to +3.
It happened to anyone else?

Yeah see the title.

But here's some Emma Frost cosplay pics for making the effort to click on the topic.

And for the ladies:

We say goodbye to a friend, a legacy a beloved pet.

And so an end of an era. The tossing away of a pet I no longer need, as well as possibly the last legacy affixed pet as well. Snuffles did me well, but it's time to move on to new golden horizons.

I'm no longer the basic white name queen.

What do you think?

What do you think the odds are that we'll get a new costume once the update hits live? I'm not expecting a whole VU or anything but do you think they were nice to us and are gonna surprise us with Dark X-Men?

So i know Emma isn't quite finished yet with tuning and all, but i would like to ask how come EVERY new hero to come out has gotten specialization tech and yet Emma failed to get this tech as well? just a curious question but i feel an important one.

Guide to the New Emma - Post QOL *Under Construction*

$

This is just a quick and general guide to what the new Emma can do for anyone who is either unfamiliar with Emma or is confused by any changes they see.

This guide is still under going construction as live testing is currently in progress and some things may not be 100% as intended/accurate.

I will update this post with new information when it becomes available to me. If you have any questions or would like to add anything that you feel is missing from this list please feel free to let me know. If you have any comments, questions or concerns please feel free to ask.

Many members of the Emma Frost community would be more than glad to help answer your questions.

Omega Telepath:

This is her ranged/mental tree. Sudden Dread was moved to this tree and 2 new cooldown powers were added. Mental cloaking (a stealth that broke on power use) was removed from this tree and consolidated into a 3 second invisibility (which does not break on power use) on diamond mind.

Astral Bolt:
This is your range/mental basic power. It returns spirit on hit.

Psi Bolt:
This skill was upgraded from basic to spender status. This skill targets multiple enemies and the enemy that gets hit takes bonus damage.

For example say you have a boss. You aim this skill at the boss who will receive damage and any enemies (within a small radius) will also be effected by this power. The boss will receive bonus damage for being the enemy that is originally targeted.

Think Kinetic bolt except it's a small area and doesn't bounce.

Telepathic Torment:
This skill has not changed drastically. It should feel pretty much the same.

Psychic Blast:
This skill is no longer a dot. You may notice that this skill doesn't feel quite the same as it did previously. This skill is best utilized as a channeled area clear meaning you hold down the appropriate key to inflict damage on your target.

This skill still has trash clearing potential you just may have to use it differently than you're use to.

Sudden Dread:
This skill is pretty much the same. The duration on the effect of this power has been shortened. The dot on this skill is not stackable with Diamond Bladed Spin Kick

Drain Psyche:
This skill has not changed all that much. You should feel an improvement when using it. I believe the attack speed and animation have been adjusted to make channeling this power more fluid.

Astral Whip:
This is your high impact mental cooldown power. This skill will also significantly buff the mental damage your enemy takes for 8 seconds.

Psychic Spear:
This is your 4 second mental execute. This power requires a target for you to aim it so it does not go on cooldown and never misses. This skill is going to be easier to use on stationary enemies or bosses or just enemies that are easier to target in general.

Hellfire Headmistress:

This is her utility tree. All the powers that help Emma in some sort of supportive capacity are found under this tree.

Psychic Domination:
This skill is an automatic 1 point power. All of it's values are at their maximum rank at 1 point. You use this skill in order to dominate a minion. Once you have dominated a minion you do not need to use this skill again unless you wish you dominate a new minion.

To dismiss your current minion right click on this power and select to dismiss it.

Minion Less Pet Puff
There is intended to be a buff in damage and damage reduction to players not using minions. It should be displayed in the tooltip of this power.

Running in Heels:
This is her travel power. It is a sprint that costs 1 point. It has maximum travel speed at rank 1 and does not scale with + ranks to powers offered by items.

Telepathic Mastery/Force of Will:
This is her offensive passive. This skill is going to maxed in every build you run because it gives all her purely offensive stats that you typically look for.

The active effect of this skill is her crowd control which scales with how many ranks this power has.

This skills passive effects change based off of what form you are in.
You receive the constitution buff when not in diamond form and the accuracy buff when in diamond form. Crit ratings have been rolled into mental powers to balance the accuracy buff.

When in diamond form this a 5 second taunt gets added to the active effect of this power.

Frenzied Confusion:
This skill has not changed. It is her crowd control ability. With the limited power point at your disposal 1 point is really all this power needs. You can pretty much 1 point this and put it into any build rotation (if you have the bar space) although it may not feel as intuitive/fluid as just leaving it out in some melee rotations.

However it's a utility power that doesn't have a cooldown and is a 1 point wonder. I wouldn't overlook it but I wouldn't stress out over it if you aren't having room. Go with what feels fun or what you are having better results with.

Inspire Minion:
This skill now has a 30 second cooldown that is shared with Unlock Potential. This skill inflicts burst damage while also "inspiring" your minion who will taunt enemies for a short duration.

This is possibly the best option for those that wish to try full range/mental type builds. The range of your minion and the taunt that it applies means you can readily take advantage of your + damage to enemies not targeting you.

This skill does more out right burst damage than unlock potential.

Commanding Aura
The damage that commanding aura grants has been globally tuned. The attack speed buff that this skill provides has remained unchanged.

Kneel Before Me:
Emma's signature inflicts mental damage which many people hoping for a purely melee/physical build may be questioning. This is a pbaoe skill which is useful for melee/physical builds who tend to stay within close range.

This skill is also quite useful for restoring spirit. This skill offers invulnerability and health regeneration on activation. This skill is going to be good at disrupting the damage you take.

Unlock Potential:
This skill is her defensive steroid. It has a 30 second cooldown that is shared with inspire minion.
This skill provides both the conceal and protected buff.
The damage bonus on this skill does not scale with ranks. The damage bonus this skill provides does not get applied to the damage that this skill does.

This is a nice skill for melee builds. The concealed buff tends to counteract the in your face and "taunt" style that diamond builds are built around but the concealed buff is useful for any range/mental players that wish to utilize this skill.

The dot radius is fairly large on this skill especially compared to what it was on test center. Even when you use a range/mental build the mid range dot of this high cooldown power lines up with the mid range feel of her signature.

Diamond Paragon:

All the skills in this tree receive a damage bonus that scales with defense. This will most likely make people feel "tanky" when they gear for defense or aim for a mostly melee hybrid build.

You can no longer enter diamond form in hubs.

Lustrous Lunge:
This skill is her physical dash power. It will put you into diamond form upon activation. This skill provides a move speed bonus that scales based on power rank.

Diamond Mind/Diamond Heart:
[Bug]Diamond Armor resets when joining new instances. If you are in diamond form you revert back to human form every time to change maps/join a new instance.
[Bug]Diamond Armor also refreshes every time you join a new instance starting from 0 and building.
[Bug]When you die her diamond armor starts at 0 when you respawn.
This is her defensive passive. Diamond armor regeneration has been added to this skill. This skill changes based off of what form you are currently in.

In diamond form this skill offers the same benefits that it did previously. However when in non Diamond form the defense ratings on this skill are changed to dodge.

Gleaming Strike:
This is your melee/physical basic power. This power restores spirit on hit. No matter how I decide to incorporate this into my builds (or if I even decide to use it at all) I leave this skill at one point. There is no point maxing it.

Diamond Bladed Spin Kick:
This skill has a dot that does not stack with Sudden Dread. The dot on this skill is tagged as a bleed so it directly benefits from bleed itemization.
This skill has a small pbaoe/radius

Diamond Whirlwind:
This skill has many new affixes. This is a channeled power that can remain stationary or be moved by holding down your mouse and moving your cursor to the desired location.

Diamond Crush:
This skill now longer gives bonus damage against bleeding enemies. This skill has a shockwave type effect that makes it a bit farther in range than gleaming strike. It's not a huge thing but I hardly notice anyone mention it. When I use gleaming strike I have to get right up on the enemy. With diamond crush those huge blows give off a short wave of damage that makes it not require you to have to hug your target.

Crush is performing very well for me. This should be a nice spender option for those that wish to use it's impactful feel. The animation may be a bit slow for some people (especially when compared to gleaming strike) but you should still be able to get the most out of this skill.

I prefer gleaming strike (in some instances) just for that flashy animation.

The True Queen:
This skill is her 4 second physical execute. This power has a small area that it can hit targets within.

Showoff:
This is her high impact melee/physical skill. This skill has an 8 second cooldown that is shared with astral whip.

This skill gets bonus defense to match the 20% vulnerability that astral whip applies. All of diamonds have a damage bonus that scales with defense. So basically the + defense you get after using this skill is suppose to balance the +20you get on astral whip.

Ultimate:

Stepford Circle:
Emma no longer has a summon as an ultimate power (anyone miss the sparkle monsters? :))). She visually summons the cuckoos but this skill will not benefit from summoner gear.
Now she has a ground dot that gets placed where ever she channels it.

This means that Emma will cast this skill and the damage will stay in the spot Emma first activated this power. Meanwhile she is free to move about and do damage to her target(s).

For a more detailed breakdown of these powers read the patch notes here:

Love the new diamond Emma Frost

Great job on this tune up, Gazillion. It has been a long time since I bothered playing EF except for the occasional time I dusted her off to remember how much I disliked playing her.

The new powers look and feel great. The animations are top notch (I especially love the look of leaping in the air with Show Off, turning into diamond form mid-leap and crashing down as a badass diamond lady). I have a lot of fun cooldown buttons to push offensively and defensively. The new ult is great, the re-balanced sig feels powerful when before it was kind of bad. All of the animations seem very snappy when moving from power to power, which is important in an action MMO.

I don't punch dummies for a living but I felt very effective in cosmic patrol zones, beat the cosmic trial with well over two minutes remaining and managed to score in the top 20% on the danger room trial with very average artifacts, and no blessings or enchants or challenge bonuses on my gear.

She's got great survival skills but could probably do with a little bump to her damage overall. Nothing stands out as particularly underpowered but I noticed she does take a bit longer to kill stuff than some of my similarly geared heroes. She does feel a bit more survivable than some of my even best geared characters so maybe there's balance there.

This is all for diamond/hybrid Emma Frost. I don't have any experience using a full mental build.

Full-stupid Def Diamond build?

$

0

I'm sure a million people tried this out with the new Emma changes, so I just want to ask...how viable is it to build full-stupid for Defense with Diamond form? On the builder I can get up to something like 25k Defense Rating, going full Durability, Defense nodes, Hellfang + Atlantean jewel, etc., and her uniques, all skills comfortably at 50. Should be ~+100% damage to all her melee powers.

Hows the damage actually stack up in practice, though? Is it giving up too much base damage that the +100% doesn't make up for it? And how does her melee skillkit actually play - her powers seem very similar to Colossus' in that its a lot of slow filler and a couple big-hit cooldowns, mostly single-target.

A couple of Bugs I've found.

Animation on Unlock Potential/Inspire seem to continue because of Power Duration %, but the effect does wear of on the 10sec mark.

Diamond Crush seems to have issues 'going to the target'.

The No-Pet effect is not there? Bug? Intended?

Her Signature can be cancelled last sec and the Dmg packet gets lost.

Her Ult can also be cancelled/stopped and it just goes on cooldown.

Inspire Minion is so much better than Unlock... :(

Anything else you guys have found?

Emma Frost Fans Unite & Discuss the changes made [DISREGARD PLEASE.]

Edit: Please disregard this thread. I was only trying to voice my opinion; this thread was never meant to offend or insult anyone, nor was it supposed to be crazy and hateful. Thank you. We all had one goal and that was to make Emma the best she can be. I take full blame, and I apologize.

The purpose of this thread is to discuss how Emma was shipped early to live center in a bad state so Gaz can work on Civil War content. This is my opinion, and if you don't like it, please leave and don't continue. I know this is going to get disagrees from some people, but think about it. Think if it was your hero. Wouldn't you be disappointed and want a change? These are just my opinions, doesn't mean what I say is true. It is just perspective.

It's really upsetting how Gaz is trying to connect hero releases and events with movie releases and such. It's clearly not working and it's causing content to be rushed. This is happening with Emma Frost right now. The community have written paragraphs on how to improve her and have patiently waited almost 3 years for her long awaited and long deserved QOL, which, really was a disappointment. Her old build was more on par with todays heroes than her new build. Her new QOL was a complete disappointment. From being forced to play one build (hybrid) from her TTK and TTL to being garbage (TTL in diamond form is fine).

Emma is known for her telepathy (She is an omega level telepath for crying out loud) and @MichaelMayhem is saying hybrid will be her only viable build. Excuse me? How is this fair? Jean has 3 damn viable builds - Mental, Energy, and hybrid.

Ghostrider's recent QOL improved his TTK to about 3:19 minutes, while Emma's is really bad. The other day someone said it was 4:20 in BiS gear. Not to mention, her TTL being so low.

Can I also mention how we're required to have a minion to get more damage? I feel so restricted and unable to customize based on my playstyle, because for Emma to be at her maximum potential were forced to one style. Like I said previously, Jean her 3 viable and on par builds.

We've also written 19+ pages of notes each iteration but the developers only listened to some extent. The build from the other day was better than yesterday's build, and I felt like we were getting somewhere. My friend even Emma was on TC for so long she could have even received a VU or a new costume. It's funny because the day @RogueXxXHerald posted his open letter, I was against it... but now I'm starting to realize his points. I honestly feel all those weeks of TC was for nothing.

Michael has promised to look at Emma once she's on live center, but I don't believe that. Just look at Green Goblin fans.
I applaud your patience, and I know you're upset because he is your favorite hero and you want to play him. We Emma fans feel the same way.
This needs to be fixed. Remember: Quality (Happy costumers, more money) > Quantity (Upset costumers, less money)

Start working on one thing at a time, instead of everything at once -- this is chaotic. I'm not telling you how to run your job, but everything will be more smooth.

@Kaideh @Aerex @BarbieDoll @LuisPalaciosC @Vespyr @rbmaia @MisterJescah @Scade @Bleachonce @TheSouthDragon @stacyedwards @ExtremisOp And many more Emma fans... our efforts weren't successful but we will keep trying until Emma gets a legitimate look at.

Who's with me?!

@Ryolnir @MichaelMayhem @PsiLocke - Please take our words seriously.

Side note: I did not proof-read this so yeah, expect some typos. I was at school while typing this XD

My sincere apology

Hi, everyone..

I'm writing this post to apologize to everyone in the Emma community & the developers.

I got carried away, because of the disappointment I had with Emma, but after reading what @MichaelMayhem recently posted, I felt ashamed and upset. Then Michael said Emma would get a tuning, which gave me some faith and hope. I never wanted to upset or offend anyone, nor make a hate thread.

We all had one goal, and that was to make Emma the best she can be. I got carried away with what I said on that thread, I had used words I shouldn't have used. I was afraid that Emma would not be looked at because fans had waited almost 3 years for a QOL.

The community and I appreciate the hard work Emma has received, including the new powers and ultimate. She will even be getting a visual update soon! (Yay!)

Once again, I'm sincerly sorry @MichaelMayhem @Ryolnir

Thank you all for your hard work and I hope Emma is going to be awesome for everyone.

I really enjoy...

When heroes come out with a...unique gearing aspect.

Dodge with Spidey
Proc # with Scarlet witch
Deadpool/Ironman/WM with spirit

And now Emma with defense

It makes the game so much more enjoyable for me because it takes me time to fiddle around with gear and find what I consider 'optimal' for said hero.

Some heroes have had this in the past with their kit but it was never designed to the point where gearing for it made a big difference
examples:
Capt with 1 of his skills
Thing with 1 of his punches
Colossus with 1 of his punches (forgot the names of all 3)

Sometimes I dont get why put alot of effort into creating a new mechanic like spirit to dmg, def to dmg, hp to damage but then have the mechanic not be effective to gear for.

Please keep it this way for Emma, having gear choice is fun for players like Me who like to fiddle around.

Minion-less Emma Suggestion

$

I made this suggestion on the TC but I was wondering what you guys think about giving Psychic Domination specializations since its a 1 pointer now.
Spec 1: no minion - this will give Emma the no minion buff (like Black Panther with the Dora's)
Spec 2: no change - this will work the way the current power works
Spec 3: Psychic Transfer - Dismiss the minion and pass the affixes on to Emma. (I know they changed it so that minion auras only affect Emma/Vision but I think it might be a unique way to support the team... or the aura could still just effect Emma with no minion).

I'm disappointed by the review :(

I just read the notes for patch 1.09, not hating, she got plenty deserved changes and aditions, but I really wanted her to
1. Be able to control more than one enemy
2. Be able to command her minions around like Magic
3. Maybe get some illusions

Just my personal preference, hope everyone enjoys her more than before

Emma's new power icons don't match the rest of her kit + minion block bug is back.

@Lord @Ryolnir @Asros @whoever

Can you either rework these icons to match the rest of her old ones, or update all of her old ones to match the new ones?

Also the minion blocking bug is back and has been since last patch. Please fix it, it's annoying with all the minions in hubs blocking me from the waypoint portals.

Thanks.

Hey you badazz emma players I am in need of an updated build. Mostly because I am to lazy to make my own :)

Theres no explanation of diamond form that I can see explaining how to enter or leave form?

$

Diamond Armor bar says you gain it when you hit while in diamond form and it reduces dmg taken.

She has Diamond Heart/Mind that swaps when you go in and out of diamond form.

Diamond form is a secondary effect on the Diamond Mind/Heart ability but doesn't explain how to enter or exit the form like it used to when I believe it was it's own passive. All the game does is say what happens when you've changed forms.
